John Compton was born in Hagerstown, Maryland.  John is a graduate of Clear Spring High School, and a graduate of Hagerstown Community College (HCC).  He is also a lifetime member of the HCC Alumni Association.  After graduating from HCC, John continued his education toward a B.S. degree at the University of Baltimore.  In 1993, John returned to HCC to continue his education in order to better serve his auction and estate clients.  He took paralegal classes that related to his auction and appraisal business, which included classes in wills, estate and trust administration, real estate law, constitutional law, business law and criminal law. 


Service to Country and State:


John is an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army.   After serving in the U.S. Army, John joined the Maryland Army National Guard where he was accepted to officer’s candidate school.


Service to the Community:


John has donated thousands of hours to the local community.  He was recognized by the HCC Alumni association for his dedication to the community.


John has served the local community as a volunteer Paramedic, Firefighter, and was a CPR and First Aid Instructor. 


John has volunteered with Hospice of Washington County, served on the Board of Directors, and was the President of the Board of Directors.  John has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity for the past fifteen years. 


John has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local non-profit organizations, and he never charges a fee to serve as the Auctioneer for non-profit foundations or for emergency or special needs fundraising events.
